The next Disney Lorcana set comes with a co-op mode

The sea-witch Ursula will be the villain of the new Lorcana set, Ursula’s Return, and players can team up to stop her in a new co-op mode.

Ravensburger has revealed the fourth Disney Lorcana set, ‘Ursula’s Return’, which will launch in May this year. The sea-witch Ursula is the set’s main baddie, and players can work together to stop her in a new cooperative game mode that debuts in a standalone product called ‘Illumineer’s Quest: Deep Trouble’.

Ravensburger revealed the details of the set on the first Disney Lorcana Lorecast livestream on Wednesday. While the firm hasn’t revealed any new mechanics that will debut in the set, we do know that it will feature both Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey and the Wizard El Sid from Fantasia, and “Bruno and the rest of the Madrigal family from Disney’s Encanto” will also appear.

Ravensburer also announced a new cooperative Lorcana game, called Illumineer’s Quest: Deep Trouble, which will release at the same time as the main Ursula’s Return products. The game pits two to four Lorcana players against Ursula, though exactly how the game will mix up the basic Lorcana rules to add an AI-controlled antagonist hasn’t been revealed.

Deep Trouble includes a unique deck for Ursula with a different card back, to mark it out, plus two preconstructed Lorcana decks using cards from all four Lorcana sets. Players three and four will need to bring their own decks to join the fun.

The game is fully compatible with normal Lorcana and you’re free to customise your decks. In fact you may have to, if you want to defeat the game’s higher difficulty settings, which feature “rules variations that make the play experience unique” according to Ravensburger’s press release.

Mass market retailers will get the product on May 31.
