EA CEO Riccitello Stepping Down at Month's End
New CEO could candidates from both internal and external sources.
In a surprising turn of events, EA's CEO John Riccitello announced that the end of March, he will be vacating his position. Riccitello held the position since 2007, but has served with EA since 1991. It isn't entirely known of the motivation behind Riccitello's leaving, as the new Executive Chairman Larry Probst mentioned that it was a mutual agreement that Riccitello would be moving on.
It's no surprise that the past few years that EA hasn't been viewed as a positive company in the eyes of gamers, notably from the launch disaster that SimCity went through. The Consumerist even called EA the "most evil company in America", most likely due to the company's stance on DRM, games laced with microtransactions, and other business moves.
Probst has gone on to say that EA's next CEO could come from either within the company itself or from outside.
