Panzer Command Goes Gold

This WEGO tactical-level wargame will be released on June 29th.
Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm (announcement) has gone gold and will be available for purchase next week, Matrix Games announced on early Tuesday. Panzer Command is a new tactical-level 3D wargame from Koios Works (developers who'd previously produced the Tin Soldiers series), set in the Eastern Front at the height of the siege of Stalingrad.
In the game, players control either the Soviet or German forces made up of Panzer IIIs, T-34s, and PanzerGrenadiers (among other units), playing through historical battles from a tactical perspective, played out in simultaneous turns. Each unit and the battlefields are modelled in 3D and can be progressed from one battle to the next throughout the Soviet and German campaigns, gaining experience, medals, and special abilities. Units that are lost can be purchased using earned points, which forces players to make critical management decisions. As a wargame, it places heavy emphasis on realism and historical accuracy, including unit and weapon data that's stored in editable formats.
Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm will be released for sale on June 29th via both the Matrix Games' web store and at the Matrix Games booth at Origins 2006 in Columbus.
