Godfather Game Ready for Showtime
GONE GOLD posted on 16 MAR 2006 by Chris Abele
Over the objections of Francis Ford Coppola, no less.
The Godfather: The Game has gone gold, Electronic Arts announced this week. The game is being readied for shipment on March 21st to all major platforms, including the Playstation 2, Xbox, and PC. This new game is based directly on a license penned between Paramount and EA, giving the game maker full access to the creation of a video game which closely follows the storyline of the original Godfather movie by Francis Ford Coppola. In it, players become a mafioso living in the world of the movie, interacting in an open environment world similar to Grand Theft Auto or 2002's Mafia PC game, going on missions for the Don or generally climbing the mafia hierarchy. The storyline mixes in parts of the movie, and EA has squeezed in a number of famed actors from the series, including Marlon Brando, James Caan, and Robert Duvall.
The Godfather: The Game will be priced at $49.99 upon its release next week.
