Quake 4 Gold

The long awaited Quake Sequel is finally upon us.
Raven, id, and Activision have announced that Quake 4 is now in gold status and that it will be shipping to stores throughout the US on October 18. Quake 4 is built off of the ultra-smooth DOOM 3 engine, which brought unbelievable lighting/visual effects to DOOM 3 in addition to some fairly quick gameplay. Likewise, Quake 4 also features a multiplayer mode where players can shed the pretexts of the singleplayer plot to join in some fast paced carnage, modeled after the ultra popular Quake III Arena style of gameplay.
With 1000s of Quake 4 CDs being burned in as you read this, Activision also took the liberty of describing some of the background story for Quake 4's plot:
Quake 4 enlists gamers in the role of Matthew Kane, a member of the Earth Defense Force’s legendary Rhino Squad, to penetrate deep into the heart of the Strogg war machine and engage in a series of heroic missions to destroy the barbaric alien race.Sounds fun. Penetrating deep into the heart of a planet that was assimilated entirely into a war machine is one of my favorite pass-times next to single-handedly winning WWII.
