Diplomacy Done

In stores on October 4th.

The classic boardgame turned PC strategy game, Diplomacy (PC game preview, boardgame review), has been completed and is being readied for worldwide release in the coming weeks. Paradox's new take on this classic tabletop game is a new take on this classic game of politics, diplomacy, and intrigue. Under a license from Hasbro, the Swedish developers behind Europa Universalis and Hearts of Iron have molded their blend of grand strategy and love of history to recreate 20th century Europe in the format of the famed Diplomacy boardgame. Seven major powers wage war in the game, but warfare isn't simply limited to combat on the battlefields: duplicitious dealings and political alliances are all part of the game. Paradox's PC adaptation offers single player capabilities, as well as multiplayer options to play over the Internet or via LAN. A graphical negotiation language crosses language barriers and allows for efficient communication with Human and AI players alike. Diplomacy uses online servers with matchmaking services; ranking ladders and more and players will be smoothly introduced to play through the in-depth tutorial.

Diplomacy will be shipping to retail stores across North America on October 4, 2005. The rest of Europe will follow later in October and November. The suggested retail price is $39.99 and has been rated: E for Everyone (North America); 6 years (Germany, Austria, Switzerland); and +3 years (rest of Europe).
