Warhammer Academy? Field of 40,000 Hammers?

This should be interesting.

I Thought they were doing a license with CA? That one does make sense.

Hmm, I guess Slitherine won't be the only one with GW license.

Niiice.

I wonder if this will be a large full-featured game, or just an iOS one?

All we can say is quoting Iain: multi-platform, strategy, turn-based and using the PBEM system... more news to follow.

Well.. if it uses Slitherine's PBEM server system, then that bodes well.

Yep... that system is about the only way I can handle playing against a human.

Yeah - I played that game for hours. LOS was a bit wonky at times but otherwise fantastic. Have high hopes for this license.

I wonder why Chaos Gate is not on GOG. I was a beta tester on that game. A lot of fun but was vwry buggy. Also, there was another one that I can't rember the name but it was against Orcs with campaign map and tactical battles.

Please don't let these be turn based or like star wars warfare, there has been too many turn based 40k wargames - remember warhammer 40k final liberation?

A real time one of those would be amazing especially coop!

Please make it gritty and real. No cartoons like battlefield academy

Your joking right, there have been literally dozens(hundreds) of clone rts strategy games that have come out the past ten years including all the THQ Warhammer 40k, and Fantasy stuff not to mention the Middle Earth stuff or Starcraft, and on to infinity . It's about time to do a decent modern TBS 40k treatment. You want 40k in rts, stick to Dawn of War.

I don't want an RTS. I want a real time wargame like combat mission or close combat or even Total War.

I don't think their even is a real time war game for 40k? But we have a few turn based ones

Space Hulk

Final Liberation

Chaos gate

Space crusade

Squad Command

Rites of War

If the game is to be turn based please make it WEGO.

There's already real time Warhammer 40k so the next best thing would be turn based IgoUgo system for us grogs. If CA got a licenses as well then they will be doing another real time game I'm pretty sure. So, Slitherine/Matrixgames should concentrate on turn based IgoUgo system. That's what I'll be hoping for. I really don't like WEGO anymore after really looking at it the AI plays itself more than the player plays. I want to control "every" unit and "every" move just like good ole traditional wargames.

Star General was not based in the Warhammer: 40K universe.

Well - they are all about 100 years old - so I dont think if it is turn based its exactly flooding the market.

Mind you - if they went for your combat mission suggestion I would be all over that. Otherwise turn based suits me fine.

Just saw this line in the Warhammer 40k announcement at the Matrix website.

"Joining forces with Games Workshop will allow us to bring an wonderfully deep and appropriate IP to the Turn Based Strategy genre”.  Of course, that doesn't rule out WEGO.

I guess we will see more innovation like I have come to expect from slitherine in the vein of great medieval battles?

I hope we are not going backwards towards panzer corps.... but then close combat 3D is sounding a little less 3D than the name would suggest. Wait and see I guess.

Poor Destraex a man of the future locked in the visions of the past.
